We would like to welcome two new Fulbright Scholars: Rasel Madaha from Tanzania, and Sitora Khakimova from Tajikistan. They join continuing Fulbright Scholars, Fernanda Glaser-Danton from Chile and Nuning Purwanignrum from Indonesia.

We would like to congratulate the students that have new and continuing Dean’s Fellowships, President’s Fellowships and Schomburg Scholarships, including: Fernanda Glaser-Danton, Josh Cerretti, Theresa Warburton, Nuning Purwaningrum, and Maimuna Mohamud.

The ARTHUR O. EVE award is presented each year to one or a couple of seniors who has demonstrated endurance, persistence and courage in the face of extraordinary challenges while in pursuit of an academic degree with a good academic history (GPA). Established in 1995 it is designed to honor a student who has exhibited Commitment to self-improvement, personal leadership and public service, the leadership traits that characterize Dr. Arthur O. Eve, former Deputy Speaker of the New York State Assembly and architect of the Educational Opportunity Program.

This year one of the recipients of the ARTHUR O. EVE award is Danielle Maurice. Danielle Maurice has two majors, Global Gender Studies and History with a minor in Political Science. Danielle is a 23 year old married women with two children Julius 3 and Giselle 13 months. Having her hands full with a family of her own, she managed to keep an overall UB GPA of a 3.3. Her goal after graduating with both of her bachelor of arts degrees is to apply to UB Law School.
